KHH 2012 Ranges Trip

KHH 2012 Ranges Trip
On Sunday 1st April 2012, the KHH held it's annual trip in to the Kaimanawa ranges (by Waiouru, NZ) to see the Kaimanawa horses in their natural habitat. A record number of people attended, filling two buses. It was a fantastic day with great weather and many healthy horses spotted. The next trip is planned for November 2012.

DoC (the Department of Conservation) currently holds a biennial muster to keep total herd numbers at 300. The last muster, held in May, culled a total of 191 horses. Of these, 119 were homed by the KHH. The remaining horses went to slaughter.
